Lighting Shopping Guide

Lighting not only brings light to a space, it elevates a home.

Any designer will tell you that when creating a budget for a project, make sure you splurge on lighting and hardware. It is often said they are considered to be the jewelry of the home and can have a major impact on your space.

Searching for the perfect light fixture can be time consuming because there are many different options. In this blog I will give my suggestions of my favorite places to shop in stores and online for lighting fixtures. They are organized from high end to budget friendly to help guide your search, but remember that splurging on lighting will have the biggest impact on your project!

High End

McGee and Co. - Not only does designer Shea McGee have an interior design business and a Netflix show, she also has an online shop, McGee and Co. that sells lighting. Her light fixtures are some of my absolute favorites because each one has small design details that add a lot of character to the fixtures and make them stand out.

Foundry Lighting - Foundry Lighting is a great resource with many different options and styles to choose from. Here you can find many light fixtures that have become popular with designers.

Rejuvenation - In addition to other home goods, Rejuvenation has some beautiful light fixtures ranging from modern to traditional styles. Here in Houston, they also have a showroom if you would like to visit in person.

Stoffer Home - Designer Jean Stoffer’s online store has many stunning light fixtures. Her classic and timeless design is reflected in the lighting selections and is perfect for any traditional or transitional home.

Shades of Light - This online store has a wide range of light fixtures and styles. This is a great place to look if you want to see many different lighting options.

Visual Comfort and Co. - After merging with Circa Lighting, Visual Comfort and Co. has an even larger collection of lighting. Similar to Rejuvenation, there is a Houston showroom, so you can view the lights in person if you would like.

Mid-Range

Pottery Barn - Not only does Pottery Barn sell furniture, they also have a lighting collection that matches their traditional and transitional style.

West Elm - Pottery Barn’s more modern partner store, West Elm, also has lighting that matches their modern and eclectic style.

Budget Friendly

Wayfair - Wayfair has a large variety of lighting at budget friendly prices. Even though these fixtures might not be as pricey, they still have some great styles that can elevate a home.

All Modern - All Modern is a part of the Wayfair family, but focuses on modern design. If you are looking for modern light fixtures, check out All Modern.

Etsy - Believe it or not, Etsy is an excellent place to shop for lighting. Here you can find unique pieces that you might not see in larger stores. Just make sure you read the specs! Some of the lights from Etsy are made in different countries, so make sure the light you are purchasing is compatible with your home.

1-800Lighting - Now part of the Capitol Lighting family, 1-800Lighting has a large selection of lights in many different styles. Since they have a large variety, their prices range from high end to budget friendly.

Lumens - Lumens also has a large selection of lighting ranging from modern to traditional. Similar to 1-800Lighting, they have a range of prices as well.

Shopping Tips

  1. Shop Sales! The stores and shops referenced above will often have sales for major holidays and will offer 15%-30% off.

  2. Look at the high-end stores for ideas and then try to find something similar at the more budget friendly stores.

If you are starting your own design project or just need a quick lighting refresh, check out these stores to find fantastic light fixtures and elevate your space!
